Buy-and-finish vs cow-calf — why this fits a beginner

Model basis. Weaned beef-breed calf ~250 kg bought at ~6 months, finished on grass to ~18–22 months / ~320 kg carcass, ~70% meat yield → ~224 kg saleable. Blended box price on meat weight; remainder to abattoir at ~90 SEK/kg. Costs per the fully-loaded unit economics (calf, feed, health, land, slaughter+transport, cutting+packaging, delivery+marketing, overhead+finance). Subsidies: Swedish 2025–26 rates on leased land + nötkreatursstöd (partial-year, animals >1 yr). Working capital = value of animals on farm (you carry ~1.25 years of stock). Owner-operator: your labour funds your income unless "charge your own labour" is on. Year 1 is a partial build year (first calves not yet sold). Planning estimates, not financial advice.
